Congratulations to Ged Warburton who won both the Alan Casey Award for Best Placement Student and the NETP Award for Best Academic Student.  This is a significant achievement, only the second time this has occurred, and clearly demonstrates what can be achieved with focus, determination and considerable effort, so well done Ged!

A wide range of industry partners and past and present University students attended the awards.  Talks were given by John Sinclair (Dean, Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology), Dom Goring (Production Manager, Abaco Systems), Peter Austin (Alumni student and BIW Manufacturing Engineer – Jaguar Land Rover), Ged Warburton (NETP placement student) and Daniel Bailey (University Academic Lead NETP).  The clear message from the speakers highlighted the benefits which industrial experience brings in relation to enhancing the student experience, academic studies and employability.  The networking session provided a great opportunity for contacts to be made and generated lots of discussion.  Following this session, outline plans to develop a University Technology society were made and additional support was pledged for the NETP Autumn and Spring Seminars.
