Neil Furniss

Neil Furniss joined Gemini Rail Services five years ago, after previously working at Milton Keynes College for over 25 years.

Prior to this Neil had a variety of roles as a technical electrical/electronic engineer, becoming a chief electrical inspector for electricity board authority.

Current role is to manage the training facility of the organisation, which includes competency training due to the safety critical nature of the railway industry, technical upskilling of staff and delivering over 130 apprenticeship programmes from 2016.

The organisations have received recognition via the EEF and the National Apprenticeship Awards in 2017 and 2018, as an exemplar apprenticeship employer.

An apprentice advocate, whom is very passionate about training and development, specifically in engineering and apprenticeships at all levels, been involved in the development of new qualification standards with a variety of awarding bodies, and keen to engage universities in graduate apprenticeships, highlighting the opportunities these programmes can lead too.

The company’s mantra “Apprenticeship to Fellowship” is to continuously develop our people, developing a suitable recognised pathway for qualifications from level 2 to level 7 standards, “this is now available and recognised, due to the association of NETP, variety of training providers, awarding bodies and industry standards”.

Neil has been a member of NETP team for over 4 x years, however the organisation has had many years supporting the NETP and the graduates/students at the University of Northampton.

A keen sportsman at senior level, enjoys travelling and socialising, continuously striving to develop.
